iOS 12 (What’s New)
Apple kicked off its WWDC conference in style with the star update (iOS 12). Apple’s main intention with the new software is to make the iPhone and iPad more responsive and faster. iOS 12, with its new features, looks promising to change the iOS development trends. With iOS 12, apps will launch 40% faster, the keyboard will launch 50% faster, and the camera will be 70% faster.
ARKit 2
The second major ARKit release brings tons of big improvements to the company’s AR development kit. Apple worked with Pixar to create a file format for Augmented Reality (AR) called USDZ. iOS 12 allows users to share augmented reality experience with their friends, colleagues, etc. with FaceTime up to 32 people.
The best thing about ARKit 2 is multi-user support, which lets different users see the same AR objects from different perspectives with their devices.
Siri Updates
This year, Apple came up with something new, cool, and exciting features for Siri lovers too. Siri has a new feature named ‘Shortcut,’ which will be integrated with the app aiming to build bespoke voice commands. Users will get a personalized experience with the ‘Add to Siri’ option within applications only.
With the new updates, Siri has become way smarter than before. Siri can now make suggestions from the lock screen and let you know what’s in the vicinity.
Photo Updates
We saw a major update in the Photo app at WWDC 2018. Now the Photos app has a new enhanced search option. There’s a ‘For You’ tab that makes suggestions on what you can do with the photos you have saved. The updated facial recognition feature will rely on using the iCloud Photo Library, so you may have to boost your storage settings.
Stocks, News, Books, and Voice Memos
Apple is merging both stocks and news apps to collect all your favorite pieces in one place only. Also, stocks will be coming to the iPad, so now users can enjoy the stock action on a bigger screen. Apart from that, voice memos are also coming to the iPad, synced automatically over iCloud. Also, the iBooks app will now be called Books.
Group Notification and Do Not Disturb (DND)
Apple is expanding features like ‘Do not Disturb’ with its latest updates, especially group notification, to allow users to avail an option for responding notifications even from the lock screen. Apart from that, you’ll be offered a ‘timer’ to limit screen time for kids.
Memoji
Apple has gone a step ahead with Memoji (personalized, animated emoji that can be designed to look like you) to let users have a personalized experience. Users can create a Memoji that looks like them with freckles, hairstyles, glasses, and more.
Facetime Group Calling
Do you want to connect with more friends over video-call? Well, Apple enables you to connect with 32 people; a group calling in the updated Facetime will let you do that. During group chat, users can use stickers, Animoji, and more to discover more fun.
macOS Mojave
Apple’s macOS gets a big update this year. Inspired by certain news features of powerful users, new macOS Mojave allows you to do your work flawlessly using dark mode. With the use of ‘Stack,’ updated macOS facilitates users to organize files properly. Now, users can do editing and sharing files, even without opening them.
Privacy and security have always been Apple’s foremost concern, macOS Mojave includes features like automatic strong password, tracking prevention improvement, and lots more.
watchOS 5
With new watchOS 5, Apple helps you stay more active and take part actively in activity competition with your friends. WatchOS helps you improve your running, track new workouts, connect friends with Walkie-Talkie, and much more. With a new announcement, you can explore much more beyond your expectations, from morning workouts to light out.
tvOS 12
Apple gives a genuine reason to celebrate those who love listening to music and watching movies with TV 4K. You can indulge in Dolby Atmos 3D sound to improve the experience of watching videos, listening to songs, and more, with amazing sound effects.
Apple’s new measure sets a new standard for watching movies with crystal clear video using four times more pixels than standard HD. Being a fully compatible sound system, Dolby Atmos, with 3D audio, sends sound around and even above the listeners to experience a real sound while watching a jet zooms overhead or an eruption of the heavy downpour.
